Honoring Stephen M. Dufilho: A Legacy of Faithful Leadership

The Catholic Community Foundation announces, with deep gratitude, the retirement of Stephen M. Dufilho from the CCF Board of Directors and from his role as Chairman of the Board.

Steve has served the Foundation faithfully since July 1, 2012, including eleven years as Chairman — fourteen years in all. Throughout his tenure, his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to Catholic stewardship strengthened the Foundation and advanced its mission in service to the Church and the broader community. His generosity, integrity, and devotion have inspired fellow board members, staff, donors, and all who served alongside him.

A Lifetime of Leadership and Service

Stephen M. Dufilho, MA, CPA, has brought decades of leadership and service to both the business and nonprofit communities in San Antonio. He currently serves on the Ascension Board of Directors and is Chairman and co-founder of Invictus Medical, Inc. and Emtora Biosciences. His career includes serving as Principal at Goldsmith, Fillis & Dufilho Capital Partners, as well as Chairman and CEO of The Trust Co., where he guided more than $1.2 billion in client assets, and previously as Chairman and CEO of BBVA Compass Bank in San Antonio.

Deeply committed to community, Stephen has devoted much of his time to advancing healthcare, education, and faith-based initiatives. He has served in leadership roles with Christus Santa Rosa Health Care, the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, KLRN Public Television, the Texas Research and Technology Foundation, and St. Mary’s University, among many others.

With Heartfelt Thanks

On behalf of our Board, our staff, our donors, and all those whose lives have been touched by his leadership, the Catholic Community Foundation gratefully honors Steve for his extraordinary service and unwavering dedication. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for his lasting contributions to the mission and future of the Foundation.

May God bless Steve and his family abundantly in the years ahead.

As Steve concludes his chairmanship, the Foundation is pleased to welcome Eric Opiela as incoming Chair of the Board. A fuller introduction to Eric and his vision for CCF will follow soon.
